Mutations in Steal An Egg: All Multipliers & How to Get Them
Updated 2026-09-02 · Roblox Steal An Egg
Mutations in Steal An Egg (the community also calls them auras or colour mutations) change how a pet looks and multiply its income. There are currently six mutations: Silver, Golden, Rainbow, Bloom, Spirit Bloom and the limited-time Monstrous mutation. Monster Egg pets also have a separate Mecha variant that works like a rarer version of each monster rather than an aura.
Only two multipliers are confirmed: Bloom is x1.5 and Spirit Bloom is x2.5, both applied through the Sakura Incubator in the Cherry Blossom zone. The Silver, Golden and Rainbow multipliers are still marked Unconfirmed on the Fandom wiki. The Rainbow mutation is a Secret-tier hatch roll and one of the rarest results in the game; the Fandom wiki lists hatching as its only source.
The mutation multiplier stacks with the pet's size multiplier, so a rare aura on a Giant or Huge pet is where the biggest income numbers come from.
All mutations at a glance
| Mutation | Income multiplier | Rarity tier | How to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | Unconfirmed | Common | Random roll when hatching any egg. Shiny silver body with metallic reflections. |
| Golden | Unconfirmed | Common | Random roll when hatching; the most common base mutation. Gold texture with coin particles. |
| Bloom | x1.5 | Event | Sakura Incubator at 97.5% charge (Cherry Blossom event). Cherry petal particles. |
| Rainbow | Unconfirmed | Secret | Random roll when hatching. Animated, colour-cycling effect. One of the rarest hatch mutations. |
| Spirit Bloom | x2.5 | Secret | Sakura Incubator: 2.5% chance per roll, guaranteed at 150% charge. Green spirit effect. |
| Monstrous | Not documented yet | Limited | Rare drop from a Monster Chest (Hungry Frog event). Only applies to Titan Temple monsters. |
Hatch mutations: Silver, Golden and Rainbow
Silver, Golden and Rainbow are rolled automatically when an egg hatches in your pen. The Fandom wiki lists hatching as their only source, so the practical way to get more rolls is to hatch more eggs. See Eggs for where each egg spawns and Spawn times for the 5-minute reset.
- Golden is the one you will see most. It is the most common base mutation.
- Rainbow is Secret-tier and is what most "steal an egg rainbow mutation" searches are about. The Fandom wiki describes it as one of the rarest hatch mutations in the game and does not publish its roll chance.
Exact multipliers for these three are Unconfirmed. The Fandom page uses Golden = x2 and Rainbow = x5 in its worked examples, but explicitly flags those as placeholder values that have not been verified from an official source. Treat them as community-reported, unconfirmed.
Sakura Incubator mutations: Bloom and Spirit Bloom
Bloom and Spirit Bloom were added in Update 1 with the Cherry Blossom zone. They are the only mutations you apply on purpose, using the Sakura Incubator. The full unlock walkthrough is on the Cherry Blossom event page; the short version:
- Reach 2,500,000,000 Speed to enter Cherry Blossom (see Speed).
- Hatch a Crane from a Cherry Blossom Egg and bring it to the ancient Sakura tree to restore it and unlock the incubator. The Crane page covers where to find the egg.
- Every 30 minutes the Great Bloom fills the zone with Sakura Crystal Trees. Break them and collect Sakura Crystals.
- Place the pet you want to mutate inside the incubator, then deposit crystals to charge it.
| Charge level | Result |
|---|---|
| 97.5% | Rolls a chance at Bloom (x1.5) |
| Any roll | 2.5% chance of Spirit Bloom instead |
| 150% | Guaranteed Spirit Bloom (x2.5) |
Charge decays if the incubator sits idle too long, so feed crystals in a steady stream rather than saving one large batch.
Because you choose which pet goes in, put your highest base-income pet with the best size roll into the incubator.
Monstrous mutation and Mecha monsters (Update 2)
Monstrous mutation (limited-time)
The Monstrous mutation comes from Monster Chests, which are the reward of the Hungry Frog event. "Steal an egg parasite mutation" searches usually mean this chain:
- Find an infected egg with a parasite attached anywhere in the world.
- Carry it back to your base.
- Feed the parasite to the Hungry Frog.
- Collect 5 parasites to earn a Monster Chest.
Monster Chests have a rare chance of containing the Monstrous mutation, and it only applies to monsters from Titan Temple. The multiplier and drop rate are not documented yet. The parasite itself is not a mutation; it is the event currency.
Mecha variants of Monster Egg pets
The Monster Egg is sold in the Robux store and is a limited-time item. It hatches six monsters, and every monster has a rare Mecha variant. Unlike an aura, a Mecha pet is listed as its own pet with its own base income and rarity, so it does not use the multiplier formula below. Base incomes come from the Fandom pet data table; rarities are from Eurogamer's pet list.
| Monster | Base rarity | Base income | Mecha rarity | Mecha income |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scorpio | Legendary | $10K/s | Secret | $45M/s |
| Froggo | Mythic | $50K/s | Secret | $155M/s |
| Crawler | Cosmic | $1.5M/s | Cosmic | $320M/s |
| Crocodon | Secret | $30M/s | Eternal | $680M/s |
| Krakenoid | Eternal | $500M/s | Eternal | $1B/s |
| Dreadscale | Divine | $2B/s | Divine | $4B/s |
The Mecha hatch chance is not documented yet. See Pets for how these compare to zone pets.
How mutations stack with size
Size (shown as a weight in kg on the pet card) is rolled separately from the colour mutation at hatch. That is why the same pet can hatch as a Golden Giant, a plain Huge with no aura, or a Rainbow of normal size.
Final income is a straight multiplication:
Final income = Base income x Mutation multiplier x Size multiplier
The Fandom wiki's worked examples, using its unconfirmed placeholder values for Golden and Rainbow:
| Pet | Working | Final income |
|---|---|---|
| Normal, no mutation | $100/s base | $100/s |
| Golden + Giant | 100 x 2 x 3 | $600/s (x6 total, Unconfirmed) |
| Rainbow + Huge | 100 x 5 x 5 | $2,500/s (x25 total, Unconfirmed) |
Size multipliers for Giant and Huge are not published beyond these examples. Size rolls are easier to get than rare auras, so weight usually has the bigger effect on real income. Bigger eggs are also heavier and slow you down while a Guardian is chasing you.
